Ning Baines

Baines Associates Limited is a strategic marketing and marketing research consultancy firm. The company works with a range of academic and industry consultants to provide marketing solutions to companies and organisations in need of strategic marketing consultancy and training / development.

Our principal area of operation is in the provision of strategic marketing consultancy, market research consultancy and marketing training and development, for the education sector, for not-for-profit, governmental and non-governmental organisations, and for the private sector. Whether it’s the development of a marketing or corporate plan, the planning, design and execution of a market research campaign, or the development of an integrated communications plan, or the design and execution of a marketing training and development intervention, Baines Associates is here to help.

The biographies of our consultants:

Ning Baines holds a bachelors degree in English Literature from Chulalongkorn University in Bangkok, Thailand, masters degrees in marketing (Middlesex) and e-business and innovation (Birkbeck, University of London) and PhD in innovation management (Birkbeck, University of London). She started her business career in the financial services sector, working for Standard Chartered Bank, before shifting to education and cultural marketing for the British Council in Thailand for eight years, where she worked in a variety of roles ranging from education promotion officer to assistant director of marketing. In the UK, she worked as marketing and business development Officer for UCL and as assistant director in research and development with INTO University Partnerships. Currently, she works as sessional lecturer for Birkbeck, University of London and UCL.

In her spare time, Ning enjoys baking and training for marathon running.

Paul Baines

Paolo Antonetti

Paul Baines holds bachelors, masters and doctoral degrees from Manchester School of Management at UMIST (now The University of Manchester) and a Postgraduate Certificate in Higher Education from Middlesex University. Paul is presently Professor in Marketing at Cranfield School of Management and Programme Director, MSc in Management and previously Director of the MSc Strategic Marketing course (2006-2012). He is author/co-author of more than one hundred published articles, book chapters and books on marketing issues. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Marketing and the Institute of Directors, and a member of the Market Research Society (MRS). He is a former Chief Examiner on the MRS Diploma in Market and Social Research Practice.

Over the last fifteen years, Paul’s research has particularly focused on the application of market research and strategic marketing by political and corporate organisations in a political context. Paul is co-editor and co-author of numerous books, including: with Chris Fill and Kelly Page, the best-selling ‘Marketing’ (Oxford University Press, 2008, 2011). Paul’s marketing research consultancy experience includes marketing research and strategy development projects for a variety of large organisations. He was a board director of the sub-regional development agency, North London Limited from November 2006-April 2008In his spare time, Paul enjoys reading non-fiction, swimming, film and travelling.

Paolo is Senior Lecturer in Marketing at the School of Business and Management, Queen Mary University of London. Previously he was Assistant Professor in Marketing at Warwick Business School, University of Warwick. He teaches and conducts academic research in areas such as consumer behaviour, marketing research and sustainability.

Paolo has been involved in a number of private consulting projects in the past, including ad-hoc marketing research projects and the development of marketing strategies for several private organisations. He has also four years of experience in the market research industry with Research International (Italy) assisting multinational clients in the development and implementation of their marketing strategies. He managed national and international projects covering diverse marketing issues in areas such as pricing, product innovation, branding and communication strategies.

Paolo holds a PhD and an MSc in Strategic Marketing from Cranfield School of Management (UK) and a BA in Business from Bocconi University (Italy). His MSc dissertation was awarded the MRS (Market Research Society) Accredited Masters Prize and the Malcolm McDonald Prize for best Thesis. His research has appeared in several international publications including the Journal of Business Ethics, Psychology & Marketing, the Journal of Marketing Management and the International Journal of Management Reviews.

Relton Herron

Relton has a strong background in Digital marketing having worked for some top brands including; NATO, Sony Music, The Telegragh Group, Tesco and Gillian McKeith. With over 20 years of marketing experience of which 10 years have focused on Digital (Cyber) as a Subject Matter Specialist. Areas of particular interest and passion are Social Media and Search Engine Optimisation, which he passionately believes, can heavily influence spheres of commercial & military/government operations. The main areas he covers are:

  • Brand Strategy (Multi Channel, Market Places, Positioning, Project management, re-branding, NPD, NSD, messaging)
  • Digital Strategist/Analyst (Google Analytics, Business Insight, Market Research, A/B testing, Social listening)
  • Customer Acquisition & Retention (PPC, SEO, Social, Affiliate, eCRM, Data Rental, UX, Television, Print)
  • KPI and Commercially driven (KPI & Objective setting, Forecasting, Budgeting)

    • To compliment his ‘hands on’ industry experience Relton also holds a MA in Marketing Management, various Project Management and professional qualifications.

      Relton also enjoys travel and plans to travel to even more places around the globe. He also plays hockey for his local town and enjoys snowboarding.
